'Roar Your Lungs Out!'

If you love the arts and the 'connection' of human-cat design in fashion, leopard print is the everlasting obsession. Well it's my forever obsession indeed! From accessories, shawl, dress; if you know how to flaunt it you deserve a title of real-bold-fashion-goddess. But beware! It also can look cheap if you style it wrongly!

From left:
1. In one of my leopard print collections (7 months preggy)  2. Seriously Kim K? A tail? Definitely a Big NO NO!  3. Sexy scarf - Gotta have it!  4. Amber Valletta as Lydia Davis in my favourite TV series - Revenge

Tips: Creating a balance with the print is essential to avoid getting an over-the-top (OTT) look that ultimately leads to a major fashion disaster. For instance:

1. If you wish to wear a dress all in animal print, try to avoid wearing other prints and over-accessorize. Try to tone down your look with natural looking make-up (you don't wanna look like a real animal don't you?)

2. If you are wearing a simple piece of outfit, then glam it up with a printed scarf or animal print accessories. This trend can simply work on its own. So, don't overdo with it. Let the print do the 'roaring'!

3. Do not wear full animal print dress with full animal print shoes!

Is Make-up Really That Important?

Some of us probably wonder why make-up is so important for woman… Is it because it makes you look more beautiful and radiant? The fact is you don’t need make-up to be beautiful. Make-up is just a technique that helps those who wish to have a better shape of their facial appearance i.e.: higher cheekbones, evenly skin tone, more prominent jaws, bigger eyes or sharper nose. Make-up is also a way to celebrate features we love and want to draw attention.  From an extraordinary shade of eyeliner and long, flirty eyelashes, to a dazzling lipstick and a bit of sparkle across the cheekbones, make-up is the grown-up equivalent of dressing-up. But honestly, some people look more gorgeous without an extra color on their face... Again, Make-up or color is not necessarily makes you look better! Be yourself, confident and maybe a light make-up to cheer up your look are adequate to complete your appearance.

Hot Jumpsuit

Alba looking HOT in her piece
In Long Tube Jumpsuit

In 2010, a major trend in the form of the jumpsuit or playsuit has been introduced and become more and more popular in fashion world. Hey! it's a must-have thing in your closet this year. I'm personally a HUGE fan of this piece. The designs are not only comfortable but also convenient for our hot weather. Many people think that jumpsuit may cause boredom because almost everyone wears it. However, the celebrities (Christina Ricci, Jessica Alba and JLo), supermodels (Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum) have combined and selected to have their own unique jumpsuit styles. It can be seen that they are really charming and attractive in hot jumpsuits. We can too Fashionista! All you need to do is to select and wear the type of jumpsuit that suits your personalities. Mine are tube and ruffles. Well, I love to look different! Tips: Style it with confident!

Mel's Secret

Wonder how to look hot and not worrying about 'dropping' your bra while partying on the dance floor? The secret is finally revealed! ‘Total Freedom Bra’ is ideal for sheer clothing, halter and backless styles. This nude, strapless, backless silicone bra provides comfortable, ultra-flattering coverage that is undetectable under the most revealing clothing. Wear the styles you want while getting the support you need. For the best fit, order your natural cup size without padding. Now, you can party all night long!

What are the two areas that women are concerned most about? You got it... The tummy and the thighs! FEAR no more to dolling up with your tight dress as you can now put on the waist nipper and thigh slimmer (some call it girdle or SPANX) underneath your cloth. You can blow those tiny problems away. This trimmer will tighten those problem areas in seconds!

Must have: Shiny Legging

Shiny leggings are big news this season and all the celebs have been squeezing their perfect pins into them. Every fashion lover should have at least 1 pair! However, the shiny or ‘wet-look’ (be it leather, lycra or latex) legging is not for the faint-hearted, but as long as you wear them with confidence, you'll stand out for all the right reasons.

Shiny leggings are probably unlikely fashion heroes, but with an early '90s feel slowly coming through over the last couple of seasons, these provocative pieces are just what you need to anchor a hot, rise-of-the-supermodel-inspired look. Having said that, sometimes mastering this look can be just as difficult as trying to get some of these skin-tight pieces on! You are on the correct line with thinking about long tops though: over sizing will make the perfect contrast; you don't want to look too over-done, so keeping things on the right side of casual is key.

Tips: Match the legging with oversized boyfriend shirt (checkered or plain), belted shirt, super-short mini dress or trench coat. As your legs and your fabulous leggings are going to be the main focus of attention, what you put on your feet has to be just as good as what's on top; chunky platform, flat, wedges or pair it with oxford heels for more striking look.

I’m a MOTHER not a MODEL! I’m too FAT! Fashion is not for me!

SAYS WHO? BIG, skinny, dark, fair, old, young, mother, widow is not the reason for you to go out sloppy! We are all UNIQUE. God is fair. He made us equally SPECIAL. So, stop complaining about your look or size or shape or status and being so down when it come to fashion. Remember! You don’t need to have a model figure to be fashionable. Fashion is not about size. It’s about your passion and desire towards it!

Some useful fashion tips for you - some I got it from a fashion mag I read:

  1. First things first SMILE!- there is lots of scientific research that states that you are perceived as being much more attractive when you smile, so whatever else you are wearing make sure that it includes a smile. *Please refer to Style your Fashion
  2. Clothes for overweight can be fashionable using slight tricks with the fabrics, cuts and designs. For example, thin fabrics will not look good on them. An asymmetrical cut in the clothes is used to hide the figure.
  3. Keep an eye on fashion trends, styles and colors. Not every fashion will suit you but many can be adapted. Buy accessories in the current color trend and use them to dress up a classic black dress or tailored suit.
  4. Don't worry what size it says on the label; try on various sizes until you find the best fit. Sizes vary from store to store and range to range. It's the fit that matters not the size on the label.
  5. There are lots of myths about colors, some say that plus sizes should only wear dark colors, or earth tones, I believe you can wear any shade you want as long as you remember that using the same color all over helps to make the body appear longer and leaner. Bright colors are more eye catching and can be over powering and are often best used as a highlight color. If you have a big tummy or thighs and a good bust line you could use a deep v neckline with a brightly colored necklace to draw attention to your bust and away from the bulging tummy or thighs. *Please refer to Mel’s Secret – waist nipper.
  6. Don't dress smaller than your size. Even if it’s just a little bit too tight you will feel uncomfortable and start tugging and fiddling with it, drawing attention to the poor fit. Clothes that are too tight are very unflattering and never sexy.
  7. Good grooming is also essential, freshly washed hair, clean shoes, un-snagged tights, clean and tidy nail polish all go towards that over all look and more importantly a good impression. People rarely mention clean shoes but they will comment about scruffy ones.
  8. IMPORTANT! EVERYTHING IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY. If you saw a skinny woman in skinny jeans and you are in a plus size category, skinny jeans are not for you. Know your limitations, if when you look into the fitting room mirror (try everything on before you leave the store) something doesn’t feel just right... DO step away from the item and pick something more flattering. Most fashion NO-NO's are created when people try to wear things that are not flattering to their shape or size.
So moms and all-size-ladies out there! Fear no more to be stylish. Just be yourself and enjoy fashion!
